Plan For Success NOW with CollegeKnowledge

Over half of all college students change majors at least once during their first years in college.  Starting out with more in-depth self-knowledge and a clear career focus will:

-  ensure less time taking unnecessary courses

-   more time spent on focused coursework that will add value to your eventual career

-  improve your chances of getting a better job upon graduation.

Choosing your college major and career focus are two of the most important decisions you will make.  Decisions that can dramatically impact the course of your life.  Your career path will ultimately dictate the people that you meet, the day-today work that you do, where you live, how much you travel and what future options are available to you.

The cool thing?

Our CollegeKnowledge program can help you each step of the way.

CollegeKnowledge Overview

This 5-step program is designed for those entering college;  who want to gain a better understanding of themselves and which college major to choose.  You will receive expert career coaching throughout all five steps of CollegeKnowledge.  Read about each step:

Step 1:  Assessment

Step 1 is getting to know yourself better. You will be asked to complete 3-4 assessments that identify your interests,  values, personality and perceived skills.  The results of each assessment will be interpreted for you by your Career Specialist, with your input and feedback.  All assessment results will then be compiled into your unique career profile.

Step 2:  Career Exploration & Research

During the second step in the Plan For Your Success process you will be guided through exploration of possible careers and majors.  In this step we will explore: possible careers that fit your career profile, as well as associated information: Growth Industries, Industries in Decline, Growth Careers, Non-Traditional Careers, Average Salaries.  Depending on your career profile, we might also explore licensed careers, self employment and majors supporting these possible paths.

Step 3:  Choosing a Major

After careful consideration of your career profile and possible careers,  it is now time to narrow the field.  In this third step, we will consider possible limitations to a choice of major, look at elements that make a choice more obtainable and will rank college majors and careers on the factors you determined in the Assessment phase (Step 1) of the program.

Step 4:  Finding the Right College

Step 4 will be very valuable to each aspiring college student.  So many times we, as prospective students, choose what is nearby, where our friends will go, where our parents went, etc.  Each of those approaches is valid in its own way, but you may enroll in a college that is ill-suited for you.   CollegeKnowledge will help you to determine which colleges might be best for you,  in your chosen field of study.

Step 5:  Getting real work experience

Students usually need to "try out" careers to obtain real world experience and to make sure they are comfortable with their career choice.  During Step 5, we will work together to develop an Action Plan to gain critical career-related experience.  We will employee a lot of 'out of the box' thinking to generate possible options for gaining experience.  You will also be provided for tailor-made work options for your career.  Work experience - focused on your specific field of study - will put you far ahead of your competition.  Start out right.  Start out strong.
